Wayfinder

Wayfinder is a map-based organisation tool that allows you to create your own worlds, populate their locations and lore, and store, display, and share these notes with other users through a visual map-based interface. Wayfinder is perfect for World-Builders, Creative Artists, or TTRPGs. Whether you want to record notes while world-building, mark locations on your own maps, or document entire fantastical histories, Wayfinder has you covered.

At the heart of every Wayfinder project is a Map image. This might be an intricate piece of cartography source from online, or an artistic sketch that you've drawn and photographed yourself. All you need to do is create a new project, select this image file, and hey presto ... your adventure has begun!

It's onto this map texture that you can place location pins, icons, overlay graphics, and grids to build up your world.

• Assign unique titles and descriptions to all your locations. As much text as you want!
• Flesh out the details of locations by using metadata such as Category type and Population fields. Or characterise your locations by employing user-defined Tags to denote special features or properties.
• Group locations under the banners of Provinces and Realms to unify (or divide) your locations.
• Populate locations with lore using lists of Codex Entries - Short pages of information which can include text descriptions, categories, dates, and even images.
• Measure distances and paths across your map using the Ruler, or turn it into a TTRPG battlemap by enabling the map grid!
• Locate important locations and codex entries quickly with the Search Panel feature.
• Customise Tag and Codex icons with your own PNG or JPG images.
• Share maps and lore with other users, and lock them out from editing your map, using the Export option
• Record personal notes over the top of both editable and non-editable maps with fun colourable sticky notes!

Creating Map Textures

If you're not up to drawing your own maps, I'd recommend checking out some of these cool map generation tools:

• Inkarnate (paid)
• Wonderdraft (paid)

Wayfinder is available in two version; The complete Pro-Edition, or the freely available Demo-Edition. Both versions will allow you to view, read, and use maps created by other users. However, the primary editing features are only available in Pro-Edition.

This allows GMs and map-makers to create their content and freely share them with players and friends without the need for everyone to buy a full license. It also helps to support the continued development of this project.

Wayfinder will continue to be an ongoing Work-In-Progress for a little while. There are likely several bugs and issues the remain to be patched, as well as features to expand upon. When purchasing this software, you'll be entitled to all future updates I continue to make to this programme.
